The CAMLPR Transfusion Medicine (Science) exam is one of the single-field exams administered by the Canadian Alliance of Medical Laboratory Professionals Regulators (CAMLPR). The other single-field exams are Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Clinical Microbiology, Histology, Cytogenetics, Molecular Diagnostics, and Cytology.
The Transfusion Medicine exam tests your knowledge of the principles, methods, and interpretation of procedures used to ensure the safe transfusion of blood and blood components. This includes testing such as ABO and Rh typing, antibody screening and identification, compatibility testing (crossmatching), direct antiglobulin testing, investigation of transfusion reactions, and selection and issue of appropriate blood products. It also covers donor blood collection and processing, component preparation, storage requirements, quality control, and the use of laboratory information systems and transfusion protocols to support patient care.
